Return the Assembly cars or go to jail – Oshiomhole tells Ativie
Former governor of Edo State and leader of the APC in Edo State, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, has asked the former Speaker who accepted demotion to Deputy Speaker over a bribe of government vehicles, Mrs Elizabeth Ativie, to return the government cars in her possession or go to jail.
Mrs Elizabeth had informed the new leadership of the Edo State House of Assembly led by Mr Adjoto, that she sold the government vehicles in her possession. She tendered a letter duly signed by Adams Oshiomhole and admitted that she was ‘bribed’ to step aside as Speaker by Adams Oshiomhole hence those cars were the bribe for her to step aside.
State Chairman of the Edo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Dan Orbih, had called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter and bring the culprits to book.
Apparently alarmed that the ICPC and the EFCC might swoop on him while investigating the former Deputy Speaker, Adams Oshiomhole quickly denied authorising Mrs Ativie to convert government property for personal use. But Urhokpota Reporters have copies of the letter which the verified signature of the governor was appended on.
Meanwhile the Edo State public are waiting to see how or whether the law enforcement agencies will investigate this matter.
A nongovernmental organisation interested in patriotic leadership, Centre for Patriotic Leadership Initiative (CPLI) have announced that they will go to court to ask for justice to be done in the matter.
As usual, Urhokpota Reporters shall keep you posted.
