I am fulfiled by Obaseki’s re-commissioning of the Edo State Fertilizer and Chemical Company that I built for Edo People – Igbinedion.

Former PDP governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, has broken his silence on what he described as “petty political jealousy” of his successor and former APC governor of Edo State, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, who curiously abandoned most of the economic infrastructures that the Igbinedion’s PDP administration put in place for the economic transformation of Edo State for political reasons.

Reacting to the multi-million naira fertilizer plant and chemical company that he established over ten years ago, which Governor Godwin Obaseki has commissioned to start production, Igbinedion, whose administration constructed the plant over 14 years ago but was ignored by his successor, who many described as “jealous”, described Obaseki as a man, “who has not allowed envy and innate jealousy to becloud his primary responsibility of providing quality leadership and better life for the people of the state.”

In a statement he personally signed and made available to news men in Abuja, Chief Igbinedion described the commissioning of the plant by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as a welcome development for the state, whose citizens stand to benefit through jobs and related economic benefits.

The former governor said, “I watched with excitement and fulfilment the re-commissioning of the Edo State Fertilizer and Chemical Company. This is a welcome development for our state, as it is the people that stand to benefit through employment and related economic development. ‘’I would like to commend Governor Godwin Obaseki, who has not allowed envy and innate jealousy becloud his primary responsibilities of providing better life for the people of Edo state.

‘’I thank the vice president for coming to our state to commission both the new line for Bua Cement Company in Okpilla and the fertilizer plant in Auchi.’’ The Edo Fertilizer Plant, which was commissioned few days ago by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was built by the Chief Lucky Igbinedion-led Peoples Democratic Party Government in Edo State but was not formally put to full use to deliver benefits to the state and its people. Former Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, had distanced his administration from the project, describing it as a scrap and would not commit further state’s resources into it throughout his tenure.

But Chief Igbinedion maintained that the plant was 100 percent ready for commissioning as at the time Governor Oshiomhole was sworn into office. He pointed out that it was as a result of the successful completion and test-running of the factory that his Government invited former President Olusegun Obasanjo to commission it.

Many residents in Edo State have lauded Obaseki for refusing to follow in the vindictive path of his predecessor, Oshiomhole, by commissioning the projects that were founded by Igbinedion.
