The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has begged the leadership of the Edo State House of Assembly, comprising both the PDP and the APC, to lift the suspension placed on the lawmaker representing Uhunmwode Constituency, Mrs Elizabeth Ativie, so she can continue to represent her constituency.

Represented by former Political Adviser to former governor, Adams Oshiomhole, Mr. Charles Idahosa, the APC briefed journalists in Benin on the outcome of the meeting between Ativie and leaders of her constituency and begged for forgiveness for Mrs Ativie so she should not be prosecuted which may embarrass the former governor who, Ativie said, gave her the permission to unlawfully sell off the jeeps.

Mr. Idahosa said; “We are appealing to them to consider the fact that she is the only woman in the House; she is like a mother, and whatever happened in the past was due to the tension.

“We reviewed the situation because it was becoming messier and we told our lawmaker that we need to put a stop to this.

“We cannot be involved in any altercation with the leader of our party in the state, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, who we all respect a lot…

“So, our lawmaker (Ativie) understood the situation and we all agreed that the vehicles will be returned. We want her to continue to represent us at the Assembly and that is why we also appealed to the House (both PDP and APC) to lift the suspension placed on her.”

The controversial impeached former Deputy Speaker, Mrs Elizabeth Ativie, met with the leadership of her party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Uhumwonde Local Government Area of Edo State, weekend, where it was agreed that she will hand over the controversial official vehicles to the leadership of the state Assembly, led by Speaker, Mr. Kabiru Adjoto.

But the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party has petitioned both the former Deputy Speaker and the former governor to the financial crimes agencies and demanded for their prosecution.

It is unlawful for anyone in public office to accept gifts or favour to influence the discharge of their official conduct and this is apparently why the APC are hysterical about the issue and are desirous of seeing an end to this potentially dangerous situation and they need to resolve the matter before it goes to court which may lead to the arrest of both the former governor and the former Deputy Speaker for ‘bribery and corruption “.
