Oshiomhole Bars CPC Legacy From Edo LG Elections

Former Governor Adams Oshiomhole has warned APC executives at ward and Local Government levels not to allow any member from the defunct CPC emerge as candidate in the March Local Government election.
He warned at a meeting with stakeholders in his Iyamoh Countryhome that any executive that allows a member of the defunct CPC to contest as candidate or running mate shall be dissolved.
He said CPC leaders at all levels were as stubborn and incorrigible as their master, President Muhammadu Buhari.
Oshiomhole said CPC leaders hate him for nothing and any of them who is elected will be loyal to both the Otaru of Auchi who is Buhari’s diehard friend and Comrade Godwin Erhahon, an unrepentant Buhari loyalist and former state Chairman of CPC whom he has removed as State Publicity Secretary.
He said CPC legacy was the power behind the scheming to return an incompetent Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
On the appointment of former River State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi as Director-General, Buhari Campaign Organization even while he is a Minister with triple portfolios. He said but for the campaign of calumny mouthed against him by CPC leaders, the President would have preferred him for the position.
“After all, how can any serious Presidential aspirants prefer Rotimi to myself?
“Who knows him outside River State where he can’t even win his local Government Area?
“Does Amaechi have the language to market a rotten meant that Buhari has become?
“How ground is he in national contestation?”, Comrade Oshiomhole roared in fury.
He said he was told that a former leader of CPC wanted to be running mate to the Chairmanship candidate in Owan East Local Government Area but I told them it is bad market coming from CPC.
He said his joy was that from his last discussion with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, he was sure that there is now formidable opposition to stop Buhari from returning as President next year having failed woefully to perform.
He advised that any aspirant who did not win his unit in the election that brought in Governor Obaseki should equally not be nominated.
Reacting, a woman leader from Etsako East, Hajia Maimuna Kadiri said it was unfair to continue to punish those who lost their units in the governorship election when those who are imposing the vindictive rules lost their units in the Presidential election of 2015 and yet have gotten juicy federal board appointments from Buhari.
She warned that continue marginalisation of CPC legacy might backfire in the end.
Hajia Kadiri pleaded with Oshiomhole to leave the Otaru of Auchi out of the matter as the Otaru was the father of all.
She was immediately supported by Mr John Balogun from Akoko-Edo LGA who said he would rather back out of politics than have himself involved in any attempt to denigrate any royal father.
But an angry Oshiomhole hushed him down saying if they knew how much President Buhari has rated the Otaru above him politically, they wouldn’t speak the way they were doing.
He said the President believed that the Otaru was the one who achieved his electoral victory in Edo North for him.
He said that was why the President has appointed more of Otaru’s nominees to federal positions than his own.
He said whoever was not ready to be loyal to him should leave his house and not to expect invitation to subsequent meeting with him.
“After all, both Governor Obaseki and other leaders in Edo South obey my order without argument yet my own Edo North keep arguing with me on every matter.”
