Stakeholders decry dilapidated Ugbogui Secondary School, Ugbogui

Ugbogui community in Ovia South West, Edo State has cried out to the state government over the abandonment and the dilapidating infrastructures at the only secondary school serving the community and others around it.

Deputy House Leader at the local government, Hon Nosakhare Ekhator, who spoke on the failed facilities at the school, said the school is in a state of coma that if urgent step is not taken we might end up not having a government secondary school, as this is the only government secondary school in Ugbogui ward, ovia south west LGA.

Continuing he said no class room for the students to learn, no office for the teachers,principals to seat, all in a dilapidated state.

A Corps Member posted to the school who doesn’t want his name to be mentioned told our reporter that the school has virtually turned into a forest as trees have taken over the school compound and classrooms.

According to him, “We believe that it is only the government that can rescue the college from its dilapidated state even if it is by partial or piecemeal approach to serve people of the community and adjourning rural communities.

He pleaded that the government to urgently renovate the school, as the school had in the past produced many renowned citizens in different professions.

The school was founded in 1980
